November Update

Hello again..

Well I'm still in a job with Wolfsburg, but for how much longer I do not know. My confidence update said that my job was currently very insecure. At the end of the month it was just insecure, which just about reflects my up and down month...
November Results
Champions League: Barcelona 2-2 Wolfsburg
Bundesliga: Wolfsburg 2-1 Freiburg

Bundesliga: Stuttgart 3-0 Wolfsburg

Bundesliga: Wolfsburg 2-1 Nurnberg

Champions League: Juventus 2-2 Wolfsburg

Bundesliga: Wolfsburg 1-1 Bochum

Watch out for my next update, and find out if I've survived another month..

October Update

October started well, but got gradually worse so that we ended up with just one win in the month. Even worse, the board now hate me because I applied to be manager of Roma. I didn't get it so I'm stuck with my going downhill Wolfsburg side.
October results:
Bundesliga: Wolfsburg 4-1 Dortmund
Bundesliga: Koln 1-1 Wolfsburg

Champions League: Wolfsburg 2-3 Barcelona

Bundesliga: Wolfsburg 0-0 Mainz

Bundesliga: Hannover 1-0 Wolfsburg

Hopefully better news when I report on the going-ons of November...

September Update

Hello again!

September was a mixed month for my Wolfsburg team. It started with a win against the league leaders, which was followed by 3 straight defeats, then 3 straight wins. Edin Dzeko, despite a hat-trick last month, continues to disapoint and none of my four strikers have strung more than a few good performances together. On September 1st, we were handed a beast of a Champions League group in which we were inexplicably fourth seeds:

Now here are all my results for September:
Bundesliga: Wolfsburg 1-0 Frankfurt

Bundesliga: Bayern Munich 5-1 Wolfsburg
Champions League: Wolfsburg 0-1 Juventus
Bundesliga: Wolfsburg 1-2 HSV

German Cup: Freiburg 0-3 Wolfsburg

Bundesliga: Werder Bremen 0-3 Wolfsburg

Champions League: Rangers 0-2 Wolfsburg

League table and player stats:

Champions League group:

Bye for now.

Pre-Season and August

Here are all my pre-season results and goalscorers:
As you can see, my so-called star player Edin Dzeko only scored 2 goals starting most games, while Grafite, a 30-year-old Brazilian striker scored 6 mainly as a substitute! This confused me slightly over who to use, as I normally use just one striker in my trusted 4-2-3-1 formation. I did some tinkering and now use a 4-4-2 diamond with Dzeko and Grafite up front. Here are my first four competitive results as Wolfsburg manager, taking us up to September 1st in our story:
German Cup: Lotte 0-3 Wolfsburg

Bundesliga: Hoffenheim 2-0 Wolfsburg

Bundesliga: Wolfsburg 1-0 Gladbach

Bundesliga: Hertha Berlin 3-3 Wolfsburg

So, not a bad start to the season, but definite room for improvement in the coming months. At the end of August 2009, the Bundesliga table and player stats are as follows:

See you at the end of September folks!

Transfers

The first signing I made with Wolfsburg was to sign Dietmar Hamann on a free transfer. For a free agent, he has very good stats:
Next I signed Angel Di Maria from Benfica for £4.1 million. A star for Argentina at the last world cup, I signed him in a previous game with Barcelona and he scored 12 goals as we ran away with the league title. Hopefully he will be just as good for Wolfsburg..

These were the main transfers of the window, although I also picked up a young Mexican midielder from Atlas for £1.5 million, called Edgar Ivan Pacheco who looks like a great prospect..

Quite a few of my midfielders didn't look good enough for a title challenging side, so I farmed some out on loan and sold others. These are all the transfers I made:

I also signed some new scouts as I only started off with four and they were all German.

Squad Analysis

Hello again!

I started my new career by finding out my best player in Defence, Midfield, Attack and Goal so that I would have some kind of idea what kind of players I would be capable of signing:
Best Goalkeeper: Diego Benaglio

Best Defender: Andrea Barzagli
Best Midfielder: Josue
Best Striker: Edin Dzeko

Edin Dzeko was clearly the star of my team, although another striker would outshine him in pre-season..

My New Club is...

I have decided that my new club for this blog will be Vfl Wolfsburg of the German Bundesliga. I first became aware of them when I heard that Manchester City were thinking of bidding £50M for someone called Edin Dzeko! Ever since then I have followed Wolfsburg and hope to turn them into a major European force. With a starting transfer budget of just £6m, it will certainly be a challenge...

Hello!

Hello!

After becoming a fan of the legendary True Football Manager website by Vitaliy Mokosiy, I decided to make my own football manager blog. I haven't got 2011 yet so for now I'll be playing 2010 still.
